Meet our Founders: Gavin and Justin

Gavin Nobbs - Co-Founder & Director

Gavin brings over 40 years of exceptional experience in the yachting industry, beginning his offshore career in 1984. He earned his Class 4 Yacht Captain’s certification in 2001, a notable accomplishment in a competitive field. Gavin commanded several yachts with distinction until 2004, before transitioning ashore to leverage his expertise in key roles within leading marine and yachting companies.

Since joining AAA Coatings in 2016 as Refit Coordinator, Gavin has played a vital role in managing complex yacht refit projects. Over the past nine years, he has developed a strong partnership with Justin, expertly overseeing logistics and administration to support the company’s operational success.

Justin Larkins – Co-Founder, Director & General Manager

With over 35 years of experience in the yachting industry, Justin Larkins is a seasoned professional and passionate sailor. He began his career as an RYA-certified sailing instructor in Plymouth, UK, quickly building a strong foundation in seamanship and yacht management. He subsequently served as a sailing yacht Captain for several years, gaining invaluable hands-on experience at sea.

In 2004, Justin leveraged his extensive maritime knowledge and industry insight to found AAA Coatings, specialising in high-quality yacht refinishing and painting. As Director and General Manager, he oversees daily operations, project planning, and scheduling, ensuring every refit and paint project meets the highest standards. His expertise and dedication have been essential to establishing AAA Coatings as a trusted leader in superyacht finishing services.
